Code of Conduct

Welcome to the #HIREBLACK Slack. You must be a registered community member to access and post. By posting on this Slack, you agree to observe the following guidelines. If you find them unduly onerous, please seek an alternative forum that better suits your needs.

1. This is a safe and brave space centered around the professional advancement of Black womxn. A safe space means:
  • Free from discrimination on the basis of nationality, race, class, religion, age, ability, sexual orientation, perceived gender identity or expression.
  • Free from verbal, online, physical or sexual harassment and assault.
2. All of the conversations in this Slack should be kept confidential and should not be shared with people outside of the community without the consent of the poster.
3. This is a moderated forum. We expect this forum to be a place where people can feel comfortable and respected. This is a place where asking questions and where (sometimes difficult, but necessary) discussions are conducted in civil tones.
4. Proper etiquette for marketing and solicitation.
  • Posts should align with the channel it is posted to. Please refer to the channels glossary at the end of this document for clarification.
  • To keep the Slack tidy, files are subject to removal. We also ask that members remove all previews to their posts.
  • Promoting in our Slack requires supporting HIREBLACK and its mission of pay equity:
  • Paid roles posted to the Hireblack job board are strongly encouraged to disclose salary bands, however, they can post their jobs in the Slack w/o compensation info to market their listing.  
  • Salary bands must be included in free Slack posts. Our admin may pin folks who aren't paid posters to disclose compensation in the Slack, however, the posts are subject to immediate removal with no explanation.
  • Any postings of resumes will be removed by the moderators, including in the resume-tips channel.
  • Postings of the same message across multiple channels, re-posting of the same message multiple times, or posting in ALL CAPS or in bold is considered spam and will result in removal of the group.
  • Mass DMing is considered spam and will result in immediate removal of the group.
  • We do not allow solicitation of posts for other job boards. Come on now, y’all. We’ve got bills and a team to pay.
5. Respect people’s time.
  • If you connect with someone from our Slack channel and set up a meeting, make sure you attend. This goes for career strivers, mentors, allies, recruiters.
  • If you are a recruiter, do not ghost. We are not here to throw something at the wall and see what sticks. We are here to support the community.
Reporting Misconduct

Please e-mail support@hireblacknow.com with the context and screenshot. This is the quickest method to notify the site moderators. The #HIREBLACK team will receive the report and moderate as necessary.


1. Certain violations, in particular posting or linking to spam, posting in spam-like ways (aforementioned above), threatening, abusive, illegal, racist, sexist, transphobic, homophobic or obscene material, will result in removal of the message and lead to an immediate and permanent ban of the user.

2. If any users of this community perform any of these misconduct, one warning will be given. If similar actions follow, this will result in the user being removed from the #HIREBLACK Community.
